“St Brendan’s is a Catholic School embracing our diverse Community with faith and courage in the spirit of the Mercy Tradition.”

Welcome to Saint Brendan’s

Catholic Primary School

As we warmly welcome everyone back for the new school year, we look forward with hope and gratitude to all that lies ahead. Guided by our school motto, “With Faith and Courage,” we continue to walk in the spirit of our Mercy founders, inspired by Catherine McAuley’s call to live with compassion, courage and trust in God.

In 2026, we recommit ourselves to seeking peace and pursuing it in all that we do — in our relationships, our learning, and our daily life as a faith community.

This year, Lent begins earlier than usual, and as we prepare for the key events of Week 4, we invite families to support a much-loved tradition in our school. On Shrove Tuesday, 17 February, we are seeking parent helpers to assist with making pancakes from approximately 8.30am until 10.30–11.00am.

Shrove Tuesday is always a special time for our students. Alongside enjoying a yummy pancake treat, they learn about the meaning of Lent and its three pillars — prayer, fasting and almsgiving — as we prepare our hearts during the 40 days leading to the death and resurrection of Christ.

If you are able to assist, please inform the Admin Office. Thank you for your ongoing support, and we look forward to all that this year has to offer as we journey together in faith and peace.

LENT

As the beginning of Lent fast approaches, we begin our preparations in readiness for Pancake Tuesday.  Pancake Tuesday is in week 6 of this term, 4th March.

A gold coin donation from each student would be appreciated to support Caritas Australia.

Teachers will collect the gold coin donation in the morning and send this to the office.

Thank you in advance. Caritas Australia is an aid agency of the Australian Catholic Church and is recognised as a charity Australia wide, working to eradicate poverty and injustice.

Project Compassion

DONATION BOXES for every family

Each student will receive a Project Compassion Box in week 4, to begin our Lenten journey.

Families are encouraged to fill their boxes with 'small change' at home and return them back to school by the end of term.

Lent marks the beginning of our 'OUTREACH' initiatives to support those in need around the world.

As we 'live out' our Mercy Charism, following in the footsteps of the founding sister, Catherine McAuley, we embrace this opportunity to help those in need.

Thank you in advance to all our school community families.
