Prayer for National Reconciliation Week and National Sorry Day

Loving God,

As we gather as a diverse and united school community,we pause to reflect during National Reconciliation Weekand National Sorry Day.

We acknowledge and honour the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, the First Peoples of this land, their enduring cultures, deep wisdom and sacred connection to Country.

We remember the pain and injustice experienced across generations, especially by the Stolen Generations and their families. May we never turn away from truth, but instead walk gently and courageously toward healing and reconciliation.

In Scripture, we are reminded:

"Let us love not in word or speech, but in truth and action."— 1 John 3:18

Help us, God, to be people of truth and action. Teach us to listen deeply, to speak with compassion, and to build a community where every person feels seen, valued and included.

Where there has been hurt, bring healing. Where there has been division, bring understanding. Where there is silence, give us courage to learn and grow together.

May we be people who repair relationships, who walk humbly with one another, and who reflect Your love through justice, mercy and respect.

Bless our school community, our students, families and staff, and guide us to walk together in hope and reconciliation.

Amen.
