Sacrament of First Eucharist (Holy Communion)

The Eucharist is one of the three Sacraments of Initiation, important milestones in the journey of becoming a full member of the Catholic Church, alongside Baptism and Confirmation. During the Sacrament of the Eucharist, students received the Blessed Host for the very first time.

We thank the staff who prepared the students so thoughtfully and those who attended and supported this special occasion. We also extend our sincere thanks to Fr Jerald for celebrating such a beautiful Sacrament of Eucharist Mass. It truly was a sacred and reverent occasion.

A special thank you to our families for their support and commitment throughout the Sacramental program by attending the Family Workshops, Commitment Masses, and the Sacrament celebration itself. It was wonderful to see so many extended family members and guests joining in this important occasion and supporting the children on their faith journey.

Congratulations to all the children from Holy Trinity who received their First Eucharist at St Jude’s Church. We continue to keep them in our prayers as they celebrate this special milestone in their faith journey.

A Google Drive link containing photos taken by staff during the Mass has been shared with families.

If you have photos from the First Eucharist celebration, including photos of your child with friends, family members, or Fr Jerald, we would greatly appreciate receiving an electronic copy for our school newsletter and archives.

IMPORTANT – Confirmation Mass Time Adjustment

Due to the large number of Confirmation candidates this year across Holy Trinity School, St Jude’s School and the St Jude’s Parish Sacramental Program, an additional Confirmation Mass has been approved by Bishop Thinh.

This means:

  • families will not need to have guest number restrictions, and
  • the ceremony length will remain approximately one hour rather than close to two hours.

For organisational purposes, each school will celebrate at a separate Mass.

Friday 21 August     5:15pm–6:15pm        at St Jude’s Church

Further information, including the enrolment eForm and additional preparation details, will be shared with Year 6 families in the coming weeks.

National Reconciliation Week

National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

Reconciliation is about strengthening relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous peoples, for the benefit of all Australians.

We are delighted to announce the commencement of a Children and Youth Mass at St Jude’s, to be celebrated on the first Saturday of every month at 6:00 pm, beginning on Saturday, 6 June.

This special Mass aims to provide greater opportunities for children and young people to actively participate in the celebration of the Eucharist. They will be encouraged to take part in various ministries, including readers, commentators, choir members, musicians, and other supportive roles.

We warmly invite children, youth, and families to become involved in this meaningful initiative. It is a wonderful opportunity for our young parishioners to grow in faith, share their gifts, and feel more connected to our parish community.

We would greatly appreciate your support in making this a vibrant and enriching celebration for our young community.

Thank you very much.

Kind regards,

Fr Jerald  Mariadas
