Principal's Desk

Dear Parents
I hope you all enjoyed the four-day weekend and the chance to recharge before we launch into the final three weeks of Term 2. There is certainly no easing back into things, with a jam-packed week ahead. Today our Year 4 students head off to camp, tomorrow our Year 5/6 students take part in Winter Sport, and on Friday we finish the week with our Soccer World Cup celebrations and activities.
Amidst all the excitement and activity, Friday also marks an important celebration in the life of our Church, the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
This coming Friday is the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. It is a time for us to reflect on the deep love and compassion that Jesus has for all people, especially the poor and those who suffer in our world. It is also an opportunity to ask God to help us love as Jesus loves, growing in kindness, generosity and compassion towards others.
The image of the Sacred Heart reminds us that Jesus loves us in a very special way. The heart itself represents His great love for humanity. The flames show that His heart burns with love for each of us. The Crown of Thorns reminds us of the pain caused when people fail to show love, respect and faithfulness in return. The Cross is a powerful reminder that Jesus loved us so deeply that He gave His life for us.
The Feast of the Sacred Heart invites us to remember two important truths: how much Jesus loves us, and how much He calls us to share that love with others. As we celebrate this feast, we are encouraged to keep in our prayers those who suffer through a lack of food, clothing, shelter and other basic necessities, and to consider how we can make a difference in their lives.
Vinnies CEO Sleepout
In just over a week's time I will once again take part in the Vinnies CEO Sleepout. With temperatures expected to be around 7°C overnight and rain forecast, it is a timely reminder that for many Australians, sleeping rough is not a choice but a daily reality.
This year marks my eighth CEO Sleepout, and I am grateful for the support our Holy Trinity community has shown. Together, we can help provide practical assistance, hope and dignity to those experiencing homelessness.
If you would like to support my fundraising efforts, donations can be made here: https://www.ceosleepout.org.au/fundraisers/steve-evans/victoria
Celebrate the Difference Our Teachers & Leaders Make!
At Holy Trinity, our 2026 theme, Make a Difference, reminds us that even the smallest actions can have a lasting impact. Every day, our teachers and leaders make a difference in the lives of our students through their care, dedication, encouragement, and commitment to helping each child grow academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.
Nominations are now open for the Herald Sun's Australia's Best Teachers Campaign, and we know our Holy Trinity staff are among the very best. This campaign celebrates the outstanding educators and leaders who inspire young people, nurture their potential, and help shape their futures.
We encourage all members of our school community to take a few moments to recognise a teacher or leader who has made a difference in your child's life by submitting a nomination via this link.
Semester One Reports
As shared in a previous newsletter, we have updated our Parent/Teacher Interview and Reporting schedule for 2026. To strengthen communication and support student learning, Parent/Teacher Interviews will now be held towards the end of Terms 1 and 3, with written reports provided in Terms 2 and 4.
Over the past few weeks, teachers have been diligently preparing Semester One reports, which will be available to families via SIMON on Wednesday 24 June.
This revised schedule provides families with regular opportunities throughout the year to connect with teachers, celebrate student growth and discuss next steps in learning.
ACU Pre-Service Teachers
Last week we welcomed Miss Isabella Cossar and Miss Gemma West who are both studying to become teachers. They are both currently in their third year of study and will be joining us in 1/2 Green (Gemma) and Prep (Isabella) until Friday 19th June. If you see them both around the school, be sure to say hi!
AFL Max Fun Day
A reminder that students will attend the AFL Max Excursion on Monday 15 June. Students are asked to arrive at school by 8:30am to allow for a 9:00am departure. Students will return to school by approximately 1:30pm.
Throughout the day, students will participate in a range of engaging activities focused on wellbeing, teamwork, resilience and healthy habits through the AFL Max and Coles Kicks programs. We look forward to a fun and active day of learning for all students.
Mini Vinnies - Food If You Need It!
Our Mini Vinnies students have been working hard on a wonderful new initiative. As a part of our mission to ‘love one another’ Mini Vinnies are asking families to double a recipe to help others. Families who might be in need, will be able to take a meal from the freezer. At various times we may all need a hand, and with the cost of living impacting everyone, this is an easy way to help others in our immediate community.
A big thank you to the Parents Association for their fundraising, which has paid for a freezer to store the food.
What to do if you would like to offer your cooking services (you don’t have to be a fantastic cook). The Mini Vinnies students wish to freeze pre-cooked meals such as pasta, stews, casseroles or anything you love to cook that can be frozen.
- Email Andrea Dowling to express your interest in helping: adowling@htws.catholic.edu.au
- Your name will be added to a spreadsheet and you will be contacted when it is your turn to cook. Please use a container that you don’t need back and place a list of all the ingredients to the lid as well as the date the meal was prepared.
- Donations will be delivered to the office and taken to the freezer.
- As soon as we have a few meals stored we will inform you how to collect a meal if needed.

If you are the holder of a concession card and would like to apply please click below to obtain a CSEF application form and hand it in to the school office for processing.

Joke of the Week
After church, little Johnny and his brother go ice fishing. Little Johnny starts drilling on the ice when a voice from above says, "Young man, there's no fish down there.”
Little Johnny asks his brother, "Who is that?" His brother replies, "I don't know." So little Johnny starts to drill again and the voice says again, "For the second time, there's no fish down there." Little Johnny asks his brother, "Could that be God?" His brother replies again, "I don't know." Little Johnny starts drilling again and the voice says once more, "Young man, for the last time, I'm telling you there's no fish down there." Johnny looks up and asks, "Is that you, God?" The voice says, "No, I'm the manager and the rink's closed."
Final Thoughts ~ The Gift of Time
Time is one of the few things we all have in equal measure, yet it’s often what we feel most short of. In the busyness of everyday life, it’s easy to rush from one thing to the next without really being present.
Giving someone your time, without distractions, is one of the greatest gifts you can offer. A conversation at the dinner table, reading together, listening without interrupting, or simply sitting alongside your child sends a powerful message: you matter.
In a world full of noise and hurry, time and attention remain two of the most meaningful ways we show love.
Kind regards,
Steve Evans
Principal
