St Vincent de Paul Grocery Drive - Thank you!

Gallery Image

A heartfelt thank you to our entire school community for your incredible generosity in supporting the St Vincent de Paul Thornbury Grocery Drive.

The response to our appeal was truly amazing. We are so grateful for the many donations received—your kindness and willingness to support others in need is deeply appreciated.

On this Feast of the Sacred Heart, our donations were presented at Mass as a sign of putting Jesus’ love into action through kindness and care for others in need. All donations have now been handed over to St Vincent de Paul, where they will go directly to supporting members of our local community.

Thank you once again for your generosity and for making such a positive difference in the lives of others.

Pope’s Prayer Intention – June: The Values of Sport

Each month, the Pope shares a prayer intention with the global Catholic community. For June, Pope Leo XIV invites us to pray for the values of sport—that through sport, people may experience peace, friendship, and a strong sense of community.

Sport provides our children with valuable opportunities to grow—not only in skill, but in character. It teaches teamwork, fairness, perseverance, and respect for others. As a school community, we are encouraged to reflect on how we live out these values in our everyday experiences—on the field, in the playground, and beyond.

Inspired by this intention, we offer the following prayer that you may like to share at home:

Prayer

Loving God, You call us to live with kindness, fairness, and respect.

We thank you for the gift of sport, which brings people together in joy and friendship.

Help us to always play fairly, to include others, and to do our best.

May all sport be a place of peace and encouragement, where everyone feels valued and supported.

We ask this through Christ our Lord, Amen.

A simple invitation for families

You might like to use this prayer at home—perhaps before or after a weekend game, or as part of your family prayer time. It can be a simple and meaningful way to reflect together on how we show respect, encouragement, and fairness in both sport and daily life.

Even a short conversation—such as asking, “How did we show good sportsmanship today?”—can help bring this prayer intention to life in your home.

As our students take part in sport this weekend, we wish them all the very best—play with joy, try your hardest, support one another, and most importantly, have fun!
