What to do when someone is......mean-on-purpose!

Mean-on-purpose behaiour is going to happen from time to time, so it's really important that when it does, we have a plan for how to deal with it - with the confidence of a ninja!

You know what will help? Practice!! Attached are some scenarios then write down your plan of what you would do next. 

Magnify: Essential Skills for Classroom Management

Magnify is an, evidence-based initiative focused on creating calm, structured, and predictable learning environments to maximise student learning, particularly in literacy and numeracy. It emphasises teacher coaching, positive reinforcement, and active supervision to build supportive classrooms that improve student engagement. St Anthony's will be guided by SCS and the Wellbeing team to implement the program over the next couple of years.

Key Aspects of the Magnify Approach

• Evidence-Based Strategies: Grounded in the science of learning to ensure high-impact teaching and learning.
• Structured Environments: Focuses on routines, clear expectations, and proactive management to minimise disruptions.
• Teacher Coaching: Provides mentoring and support for teachers to improve their classroom skills.
• Supportive Culture: Encourages positive behaviour and builds relationships through consistent and fair consequences.
• System-Wide Approach: Implemented across multiple schools, fostering a shared understanding of effective practice.

Skills for Classroom Management

• Active Supervision: Moving around the room and monitoring student behaviour.
• Clear Expectations: Explicitly teaching and modelling behaviour expectations.
• Positive Reinforcement: Acknowledging appropriate behaviour.
• Consistent Consequences: Applying fair and predictable consequences.
• Instructional Routines: Establishing consistent routines.

Competition: Our Cow is ready for a Name!

Over the past term, our students have been hard at work painting our very special cow—and it’s finally ready for display! The cow has taken pride of place in the garden, where it’s already “enjoying the sunshine” and happily “grazing” on the grass.

Now comes the exciting part: naming the cow! 

Students have been busily submitting their creative name suggestions, and we’re looking forward to holding a vote to decide on the name that best suits our cheerful new garden resident.

We can’t wait to share the winning name with you—stay tuned!

Use these KAPLAN prompts for your research

The Details icon challenges students to determine the key facts, traits, parts, or elements of the content. Learners are tasked with looking for the vital details or characteristics to define the topic of study.

The Over Time icon challenges students to look at the past, present and possible future of a topic to determine how it has been influenced or changed. Learners analyze something historic and make predictions based on present knowledge.

2026 Staff Development Days (Pupil Free Days)

Each year, Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS) provides time for Staff Development Days (SDD) which provides professional learning time for all staff. St Anthony's will be providing supervision on ALL of the Staff Development Days from Monday 30 March. Parents will need to register.
