VCE and VCE VM Attendance Requirements
Regular attendance is essential for students undertaking the VCE or VCE-VM. Each VCE unit includes at least 50 hours of scheduled classroom instruction, and students are expected to attend classes regularly to complete the required learning activities and assessments. VCE students are expected to attend a minimum of 90% of all scheduled classes.
According to guidelines from the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA), teachers must also be able to verify that the work submitted by students is their own. Regular attendance allows teachers to monitor student progress, provide feedback and authenticate assessment tasks.
If a student’s attendance falls significantly below school expectations, teachers may not have enough evidence to verify the student’s work or learning. In these cases, the student may receive an ‘N’ (Not Satisfactory) for the unit, meaning it will not count towards the successful completion of the VCE.
We encourage all Years 11 and 12 students to prioritise attendance and arrive on time to ensure they make the most of their learning opportunities throughout the year.
