Principal's Page

It’s wonderful to see our students taking proactive roles in shaping our school and achieving remarkable success in various endeavours. Their incredible efforts make my role as principal feel like a shared journey. As we navigate through November, I'm excited to bring you numerous updates and highlights that showcase our collective progress.

Nick Mc Gowan MP Visit

Thank you  to Nick McGowan MP for graciously joining us to honor the achievements of our students and present the Aussie of the Month to Joseph in 2A.

It was a privilege to showcase our beautiful school and discuss the ongoing projects with Nick.

During his visit, Nick generously spent time with our staff over morning tea and enthusiastically engaged with some of our students.

Remembrance Day Ceremony:

Last Friday, we commemorated Remembrance Day with a ceremony during our Assembly. Thank you to our student leaders, Kate and Isabella, for their thoughtful planning and leadership in explaining the significance of this day. Their guidance during the one-minute silence was appreciated, allowing us to honour and remember together.

Leadership Speeches

I want to acknowledge the efforts of our Year 5 candidates as they courageously delivered their captaincy speeches last Friday in front of the whole school. The dedication and time they invested in their presentations, along with the support provided by parents, are commendable. We look forward to hearing the remainder of the speeches next assembly.

Congratulations

Our Boys' Netball Teams excelled at the Regional Championships in Ferntree Gully.

A special mention to Rylan, who was nominated as the tournament's best player. His commitment and exceptional skills truly stood out, showcasing our school's excellence.

A special thank you goes to Andy MacCartney and Tara, one of our wonderful parents, for coaching and enabling the boys to participate at such a high level.

School Accessibility Upgrades:

The ongoing improvements in our school's accessibility continue to progress positively. Three new ramps, two automatic doors, widened concrete pathways, enhancements to the basketball court entry, and ongoing  changes to the sick bay and disability bathroom signify our commitment to inclusivity. Additionally, a new ramp leading to the Science and Technology room and the Uniform Shop is underway, fostering a more accessible environment for all.

Exciting Expansion News:

I'm happy to announce the upcoming addition of two new classrooms adjacent to the basketball courts. This expansion reflects our commitment to accommodating our growing student body effectively. While this area is temporarily closed due to ongoing construction, I'm excited about the opportunities these new spaces will bring to our school community.

Smell the Roses

Significant planting at the school entrance and ongoing work in the courtyard has brought a fresh look. Thank you for your parent contributions that enable Paul and his team at Mo Brows to continue to improve our grounds.

Additionally, our soccer pitch has undergone rejuvenation, with efforts to transform the grass area in front of the goals and remove debris. Our students, as highlighted by the signed petition advocated for these improvements. Voice and now agency has been actioned.

Upcoming Event - Annual Christmas Concert:

As we approach the festive season, I'm delighted to announce our much-anticipated Annual Christmas Concert! Kindly refer to the attached details for the schedule and further information about this joyous event. Save the Date for a great night.

I look forward to seeing you at the Colour Run next Tuesday afternoon, although the sliming that has been used as an incentive to raise funds might leave me in a sticky situation.
