Multi-School Organisation (DCS and Leighland)

As previously advised, over recent months, the Boards of Leighland Christian School (Leighland) and Devonport Christian School (DCS) have been exploring the opportunity to establish a Multi-School Organisation (MSO).

As part of the consultation process, many Association members, staff and members of our school communities have submitted questions. These have shaped the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), which are available on the Stronger Together | MSO Information Page, along with other resources to help you understand the proposal. The Information Page has recently been updated with the latest set of FAQs.

Association members and staff are reminded that an Information Evening will be held to provide a deeper understanding of the proposal. The event takes place at Camp Clayton on Wednesday, 2 September, with the presentation commencing at 6:45pm, followed by supper. Invitations requesting an RSVP will be sent to Association members and staff later this week.

Water Tanks - Prepare for a Drier Summer!

After a relatively mild and dry winter, all indications are that water security will become even more important as we head into summer.

Now is the time to think ahead and make sure you have enough water storage capacity before the warmer months arrive.

Our school has two very large water tanks (250,000 litre) available for sale, providing an opportunity to secure additional water storage at a potentially very useful time of year.

Don’t wait until summer arrives and water becomes scarce — get prepared now!

We welcome Expressions of Interest from anyone in our DCS Community (in the first instance) - to Ken Clarke – ken.clarke@dcs.tas.edu.au or 0438 818 821

2027 & 2028 Enrolments, and Beyond!

DCS Enrolments 2027-2031: What a joy it is to see the DCS community flourishing!

God continues to bless our school with strong interest from families seeking a Christ-centred education and we’re humbled to be receiving enrolment enquiries all the way through to 2031!

At Devonport Christian School, our students are known, supported and encouraged to grow academically, spiritually and personally. We are committed to helping each young person discover their God-given gifts, build strong character and be equipped to thrive well beyond their school years.

With new places becoming available, we are welcoming expressions of interest for Secondary enrolments in 2027, as well as Primary enrolments for Prep and Year 5/6 in 2027. We warmly invite families to come and experience the heart of DCS. School tours are now available. Please share and encourage your family and friends or those in your church to come and discover the difference at DCS.

If you are already part of our DCS family and have younger children due to start in 2027, 2028, 2029 or beyond (or siblings for other levels including secondary), we would love to hear from you. We are well underway with processing 2027 enrolments, and we want to make sure our current families are well-supported and prioritised during this exciting season of growth.

If you have not yet completed an Enrolment Enquiry form, please go to our school website https://dcs.tas.edu.au/enrolments/enrolment-enquiry/ to complete an enquiry form.

If you are unsure whether you have submitted an enquiry, please don’t hesitate to reach out at enrolments@dcs.tas.edu.au and we will check for you. We are here to help and we value journeying alongside you as parents in faith and learning.

Extended Leave Applications

A reminder that an Extended Leave Application is required for any student absences for an extended period of time. This applies in particular to families taking extended holidays (longer than one week) during school terms.

Parents must notify the school in advance for a planned absence (such as a holiday or appointment) and this will be placed into the school attendance system. Family holidays are required by State Law to be marked as unauthorised absences (See 3.3 in Attendance Policy with reference to the Education Act 2016). Parents wishing to take their children travelling during the school term for a period longer than one week, will need to complete an ‘Application for Extended Leave’ form and receive approval from the Principal prior to travelling.

Please contact the school office if you require an Application for Extended Leave form.
