Congratulations 

Congratulations to Charlotte Diss (6 Frew) and Mia Fox (5 Jones) who both represented the Bendigo Calisthenics Club at the Calisthenics Victoria State Championships on 5 April. Charlotte placed third in the 11 Years Division 3 section, and Mia placed second in the 11 Years Division 4 section. 

 

A fantastic effort from both girls!


Congratulations to Henry Allan (11 Jones) for an outstanding performance at the 2025 National Age Swimming Championships during the holidays. 

 

Competing in the 16-year-old boys’ category, Henry claimed an incredible six gold medals and one silver. Highlights include breaking the Australian Age Record in the 100m backstroke with a stunning 53.73 – making him the first Australian 16-year-old to swim sub-54, the fastest in the country this year, and 13th fastest in the world.

 

He also set a new Australian record in the 50m backstroke with a time of 24.88 and broke the Victorian state record in the 200m backstroke. Henry’s 100m backstroke time would have qualified him for the Olympic semi-finals and even outpaced members of the Australian Dolphins. He also proudly represented Victoria in the state relays. Congratulations, Henry! 


Congratulations to Azia Fong-Sutton (9 Aherne) 

who recently competed at the Australian Age Swimming Championships held in Brisbane, proudly representing both Team Victoria and the Bendigo East Swimming Club.

 

Throughout the competition, Azia showcased her dedication and competitive spirit, reaching the finals in all of her events. One of the highlights of her performance was her outstanding swim in the 50m Freestyle, where she secured a bronze medal, placing third in the country. 

 

Azia also secured personal bests and contributed to Team Victoria’s success in the state relays, where she and her teammates delivered a strong performance to claim third place overall. She continues to be a fantastic role model for younger swimmers at her club and an inspiring athlete. Well done, Azia!


Congratulations to Aarna, Aarya and Ayaan Sapehiyia for their achievements in the Beyond Bank Geelong Junior Classic badminton tournament, which took place in Geelong on 5 April. This tournament is run by Badminton Victoria for regional Victorian Juniors. 

 

Competing in the 10–12 years section, Aarna made the top 12 in singles and came third in doubles. Competing in the 13–15 years age group, Aarya made the top 14 in singles and secured fourth in doubles, while Ayaan finished second in singles and fourth in doubles. Congratulations to all three students for a phenomenal effort!
