Assessment Update

Since our latest newsletter, the students have completed their post-year assessment tasks. This is an exciting time, as it allows students to shine and show their growth across different areas of the curriculum. The results provide invaluable feedback to teachers and the Leadership Team. From there, they are analysed to identify which areas of the curriculum are working well and which may need further focus or consolidation. Drilling down further, we can identify individual students' areas of strength or weakness, ensuring these are catered for next year and beyond. The information also provides teachers with feedback regarding individual professional learning focus and opportunities, either individually or within a whole staff focus. Ideally, the results should align with the profile that your class teacher and the Leadership Team have of every student.  Sometimes, though, they don't; for example, NAPLAN results. Therefore, each assessment piece must be considered in the context of the whole student's profile and the teacher's professional judgement of what they are displaying in the classroom.
