Schools Tree Day – Growing a Greener Future

On a beautiful winter's day, our Year 3 and 4 students ventured outdoors to celebrate Schools Tree Day, enthusiastically planting native trees and shrubs to help create a greener, more sustainable school environment.

Before rolling up their sleeves, we discussed the importance of planting trees and native plants. Together, we explored how trees provide clean air, create habitats for wildlife, improve biodiversity, reduce erosion, provide shade, and contribute to a healthier, more sustainable future for our community.

We were fortunate to be joined by our Groundskeeper, Jamie, our Cleaner, Cleo, and two representatives from Bunnings, who worked alongside our students throughout the morning. We sincerely thank Bunnings for their generous donation of native trees and plants, as well as their expertise in selecting species best suited to our local environment. A special thank you also goes to our Maintenance Lead, Sandra, for helping to coordinate this wonderful initiative and organising the collection of the plants.

Every student played an active role in the planting process - from digging holes and carefully positioning the trees and shrubs to backfilling the soil and watering the new plants. Together, we planted a variety of trees and shrubs around our Nature Playground, along with smaller native plants on the hill near the flagpole, helping to enhance the natural beauty of our school grounds.

We look forward to watching our new plants grow and seeing the positive impact they will have on our school for many years to come.
