Year 10 Outdoor Education - Teambuilding activities

Year 10 Outdoor Education students participated in a team-building challenge designed to develop their communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

Working in small groups, students were challenged to design and construct the tallest possible freestanding structure using only spaghetti and marshmallows. To successfully complete the challenge, each structure had to remain standing independently for five minutes.

The activity encouraged students to collaborate effectively, share ideas, adapt their plans when challenges arose, and reflect on the importance of cooperation and creative thinking when working towards a common goal.

Unit 4 Outdoor and Environmental Studies

The Unit 4 Outdoor and Environmental Studies class participated in an excursion from Viewbank College to Petty's Orchard. During the excursion, students investigated a range of environmental management strategies used to protect and maintain local environments. They examined the impacts of invasive species on ecosystems and explored how these species can affect biodiversity and environmental health.

The excursion also provided students with the opportunity to understand the importance of maintaining healthy outdoor environments for both individuals and society. Through field observations and discussions, students developed an appreciation of sustainable environmental management practices and the role that healthy natural environments play in supporting recreation, wellbeing, biodiversity, and community resilience.
