Glen Innes High School P&C – Supporting Our Students and Community 🌟

The Glen Innes High School Parents and Citizens Association (P&C) proudly works to bring staff, students, parents, and the wider community together in close collaboration. Our purpose is to assist in providing facilities and equipment, while promoting the recreation and welfare of students at our local public high school.

Over the past three years, the GIHS P&C has partnered with the school and several community groups — including the Glen Innes Men’s Shed and Glen Innes Junior Cricket — with generous support from the White Rock Community Fund and Cricket Australia. These collaborations have led to major upgrades to the GIHS cricket nets and the Performing Arts Centre, which now features a stunning grand piano.

Each year, the GIHS P&C provides financial support alongside many valued local organisations, including the Glen Innes Magpies Old Boys, Glen Innes Services Club, Glen Innes Rotary, Glen Innes Lions, Highland Lioness Club, Glen Innes Leos, Glen Innes & District Services Club, Glen Innes Touch, and Glen Innes Netball. Together, this support enables students to proudly represent GIHS at regional, state, and national levels.

Academically, the P&C recently supported our Science and Engineering Team of 32 Year 9/10 students to attend the State Finals in Newcastle, where they placed an impressive 21st in NSW. We also assisted Year 12 Physics students to attend an excursion to the Sliding Springs Observatory, providing them with a valuable hands-on learning experience.

Our athletes continue to achieve remarkable success, with GIHS teams named Champion or Runner-Up in the North West region across multiple sports — including Rugby League (Opens and U14), U15 Netball, Open Boys and Girls Touch, and Year 7/8 Boys and Girls Touch. We are especially proud of Kayden Elliott, who has achieved National and State medals in both Cross Country and Athletics. The P&C and local groups have helped fund travel and accommodation costs, ensuring all students can participate in these rewarding opportunities.

Creative and agricultural students have also thrived, representing GIHS at the prestigious School Spectacular in Sydney and the Royal Easter Show — both supported by the P&C.

The GIHS P&C deeply values our strong community partnerships that make these opportunities possible for the youth of Glen Innes.
