It was great to see students, staff and parents taking part in our Shrove Tuesday celebrations. Thank you to everyone who helped organise, cook and serve, it was a simple but enjoyable way to come together as a school community.

We also had a surprise visit from The Loddon Herald, who featured our students in last Thursday’s edition. It was nice to see the event acknowledged in the wider community.

Caritas Launch: Well done to our Faith Leaders who attended the Project Compassion Launch at Bendigo Mall this mornimg. Representing St Mary’s, they learned more about how we can support the important work of Caritas Australia through Project Compassion and this year’s 2026 theme, “Unite Against Poverty.”

Students couldn’t wait to return to school and start planning ways our community can raise money to support those less fortunate around the world. We look forward to sharing their ideas during next Thursday's Awards Assembly from 2:45pm.

Project Compassion

Project Compassion is Caritas Australia’s annual Lenten campaign, inviting us to live out our faith by supporting people in need, both in Australia and around the world. Each year, it shares real stories of individuals and communities who are working to overcome challenges such as poverty, lack of access to education, and limited healthcare.

Through Project Compassion, we are reminded that even small acts of generosity can make a big difference.

Funds raised go towards sustainable, long-term solutions — helping communities to become stronger, more independent, and full of hope.

As a school community, we are invited to take part through prayer, awareness, and giving, putting our faith into action and standing in solidarity with others.

Next week, students will bring a box home to help raise funds and awareness. We are not asking for straight donations, rather acts of service from our students, whose parents may then exchange for a donation to teh caritas box. Acts of service could be cleaning jobs, playing with your younger sibling, preparing dinner, etc.
