Principals Report

Dear Parents, Families and Friends,
As we move into Week 4, we are reminded that the sacred season of Lent is now upon us. Having already gathered for our preparation liturgies, we now enter this important time in the Church calendar. Lent is a season of prayer, fasting and almsgiving, a time for reflection, renewal and turning our hearts more intentionally towards God. For our students, this means thinking about how they can grow: showing kindness, making thoughtful choices, giving generously and strengthening their relationship with Jesus. As a school community, we will continue to provide opportunities for reflection and action as we journey together toward Easter.
I was very proud of our students during our Ash Wednesday Mass. They showed great reverence and respect throughout the service. A particularly touching moment occurred when Fr Stephen invited someone to place the ashes on him. Our Year 1 student, Cenna, confidently stepped forward to take on this responsibility. As Fr Stephen knelt, Cenna carefully traced the Sign of the Cross on his forehead. It was a beautiful and memorable moment, one I wish I had captured on camera. Well done, Cenna, and thank you to all students for the respectful way you participated in our Ash Wednesday Mass.
A very greatful thank you to all parents and students who attended our first Learning Conversations for the year. These meetings are such a valuable opportunity to build strong partnerships between home and school. When families and teachers work together, sharing insights about each child’s strengths, goals and next steps, it sets a clear and positive direction for learning. The strong attendance reflects your commitment to your child’s growth, and we deeply appreciate the respectful and collaborative spirit in which these conversations took place.
We look forward to celebrating student success at our first Awards Assembly next Thursday at 2:45pm. Recognising effort, growth and achievement is an important part of nurturing confidence and motivation in our students. We warmly invite families to join us as we acknowledge the many wonderful ways our children are living out our school values in their learning and in the playground.
I would also like to acknowledge the beautiful contribution made by the St Mary’s parent and staff community in assisting with the catering for Lorrie May's funeral service. The family was deeply appreciative of this generous gesture. Lorrie was a long time member of our parish community, and many of you would remember him faithfully controlling the music and ringing the bells during Mass. His quiet service was a constant presence in our parish life. May he rest in peace.
Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support of our school and parish community.
Kind Regards,
