Welcome to the first week of Term Two.

We are Easter People

On our closure day on Monday, April 15th, the staff were privileged to spend time with Father Shane Reade at the peaceful Don Bosco Retreat Centre in Lysterfield. Father Shane guided us on a journey to live out the mystery of the resurrection:

Lord, as we celebrate the resurrection of your Son, Jesus Christ,

May we be renewed in faith, hope, and love.

Grant us the strength to live as Easter people,

Spreading joy, compassion, and kindness in our community.

Amen.

The picture above was our background for the day. It was a beautiful setting and a great chance to contemplate our faith. Reflecting on this experience, we look forward to sharing the many learnings with our students and inspiring them to embrace what it means to be Easter people. I'd like to thank Mrs Devisser for her efforts in organising the day.

Welcome Back Students

What a wonderful start to the term it has been for our students! It was great to see so many happy faces back on Tuesday, eager and enthusiastic for school. Reports from all teachers indicate that the children have settled back well into the school routine. This term promises to be a busy but exciting one, with upcoming events including visits to the Monash Library, Melbourne Aquarium, and Myuma Farm, as well as the Year 5/6 camp, St Peter's Got Talent, and much more.

I'd like to extend my heartfelt appreciation to the entire St Peter's community for your warm welcome as I step into the role of Acting Principal for Term 2. I feel reassured knowing I have an exceptional team of staff, a wonderful, supportive school community, and, of course, incredible students who contribute to making this school the special place it is – for they are the reason. I look forward to a great term of learning and discovery together and wish Mrs Daujat a well-deserved, relaxing and enjoyable long service leave!

School Photos - Tuesday 23rd April

A reminder that school photos will take place on Tuesday, April 23rd. Students are requested to wear their full school uniform on this day, including the standard green or yellow St Peter's polo top. If you have not returned your photo form, please do so as soon as possible. Cashless payment is preferred.

Sacraments and Faith Nights - Term 2

Many of our Year 3 students will receive the sacrament of Communion this term. To prepare for this, we have scheduled a presentation Mass and two parent information sessions. Additionally, our Year 5/6 team will be hosting a separate Parent Faith Night on the 30th of April, as notified via PAM. For further details, please refer to the Religious Education page of this newsletter.

Lady Northcote Discovery Camp - Year 5/6

Our senior students are buzzing with excitement as they await their Year 5/6 camp. Please watch PAM for camp permissions, medical information, and dietary requirements, as they will be posted soon. An online camp information session is scheduled for this Tuesday, April 23rd, at 5:30 pm. We encourage all parents and carers to attend this meeting via the following link: https://meet.google.com/qsu-phgz-wox.

Bunnings Sausage Sizzle - Please Help!

We are seeking volunteers to help at our sausage sizzle at Bunnings Oakleigh on Saturday, 4th May. Come support our school, meet new friends, and show off your barbecue skills! If you are interested, please add your name to the sign-up sheet in the office. If you cannot make it to volunteer, we would love for you to support us by grabbing a sausage or two on the day. And, of course, I would like to thank our St Peter's Parents and Friends committee for organising the event - new members are always welcome. St Peter's WhatsApp Community

I'd like to thank all those who have joined our St Peter's WhatsApp community. Though still in its early stages, it is proving to be a wonderful platform for joining class groups, receiving updates, and connecting with fellow parents and carers. Remember, all parents must abide by our Parent Code of Conduct when posting. Also, I encourage you to join the Parents and Friends Committee group - the more, the merrier!
