Gospel Reading
John 10:11-18
Jesus declares himself to be the good shepherd who knows his sheep.
The people who love and know us best take good care of us. Think of someone who loves you and knows you well. In today’s Gospel, we will hear about Jesus, the Good Shepherd, and how he cares for his followers.
A good shepherd knows and cares for his sheep, not because he has to but because he knows and loves them. Jesus is the Good Shepherd. He knows us and loves us. He chose to sacrifice his life to save us from sin.
Jesus calls us to choose to help and care for others out of love. Let’s think of some ways that we can show others we want to care and help our family and friends because we love them, not because we have to.
Jesus loves us and knows us. He is always with us. We can ask him to help us remember to be helpful and loving to others.
Whenever we serve others in ways that prioritise their needs over our own, we are following Jesus' example.
In the Christian liturgical calendar, Easter is celebrated for a period of 50 days. This period is known as the Easter Season or Eastertide, and it begins on Easter Sunday, commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ, and ends on Pentecost Sunday, commemorating the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles.
Our staff faith formation at The Don Bosco Retreat Centre provided an opportunity for us to deepen our understanding of our faith, grow spiritually, and strengthen our personal relationship with God. This special day helped us align our beliefs, values, and actions with the mission and values of our school, fostering a cohesive and faith-filled community.
Parish Presentation Mass and Morning Tea - Eucharist Candidates
On Sunday, May 5th, all Grade 3/4 students are scheduled to participate in the 9:00 a.m. Parish Mass. This Mass serves as a Presentation for our Eucharist Candidates, who will receive the Sacrament of Eucharist on Sunday, June 2nd.
Following the Mass, we invite you to join us for morning tea. You do not need to provide any refreshments for this event. This initiative aims to foster partnerships between the families and students of St Peter’s School and the parishioners of St Peter’s Parish Church. It is an integral part of our curriculum and strengthens our sense of community as a Parish and School.
Furthermore, parents are expected to accompany their children during Mass. The students will be assigned various tasks before and after Mass, so punctual arrival by 8:50 a.m. is essential.

A Reflection:
Pope Francis has called the Year of Prayer an opportunity to deepen our relationship with the Lord:
God of Peace
Lead me from despair to hope, from fear to trust; lead me from hate to love, from war to peace. Let peace fill our hearts, our world, and our universe.
Amen
