Beginnings...

Tanya Vaughan, Deputy Principal - Head of Primary

Yesterday I walked into every classroom as teachers made their final preparations for Day 1. Each room reflected the heart and personality of the teacher, and the displays communicated a place of welcome and belonging for each student. There was a sense of peace and calm as we waited in anticipation for the start of a new day, new term and a new year.

In contrast, the joy, the buzz and the excitement today was palpable as students returned and families connected as part of our vibrant community. With smiles on faces as students found familiar faces and reached out to new friends, our classrooms came alive with the hum of conversation, curiosity and connection. It has been a joy to walk into every classroom today, and see the way the careful, prayerful and thoughtful preparations paved the way for a wonderful beginning.

The words from Lamentations 3: 22-23 were singing in my spirit this morning as I walked and prayed for our community,

“The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.”

Life experience tells us that every day is an opportunity for a new beginning. In fact, within each day there are countless opportunities for beginnings to take place. In His grace and love, as we begin each day, each moment and each experience, God generously gives us what we need to live, to learn and to be a shining light for Him in community.

This is the simple, yet profound truth of our faithful and sovereign God.

We pray that this truth will resonate loudly in our classrooms and community every day, not only as we begin today, but as we begin afresh continuously and experience all that God has in store for us throughout the year ahead.

Let’s be praying for our staff, our students and our families as we begin 2026 together.
