News from the Classrooms- Year 5 students

Padua College Yr 5 Immersion Day
On Tuesday 3rd March, our Year 5 students were warmly welcomed to Padua College, Tyabb for an exciting Technology Immersion morning. The experience gave students the opportunity to participate in engaging, hands-on activities in both Technology and Food Technology, guided by supportive staff and student leaders.
The morning also offered parents a valuable chance to explore the campus and have their questions answered in a welcoming environment.
Below are some reflections on our Year 5 students’ experience…
Victoria - We learnt how to make stamps on computers so they could be sent to the 3D printer.
Bethany - The cupcake decorating in the big kitchen was amazing. We were given the choice of the colour fondant which we rolled out and placed onto the icing.
Paxton - My favourite rotation was being in the food technology room. We were given vanilla cupcakes to decorate with icing and fondant. We used a stamp to push gently onto the fondant.
Summer - I recommend this experience to Year 5s because it showed us what high school life is like. For the 3D printing activity we needed to enter a computer lab room and there were a lot of shapes we needed to place on the computer mat whilst listening to many instructions.
Louis - I loved making a 3D model stamp with our names on it. The shape we used was a cylinder and the teacher was patient explaining the instructions slowly and clearly. I loved it! Thank you Padua College for the wonderful day.
Emily S- I used a bunny stamp to press onto my cupcake fondant .
Evie - Once everyone was dropped off by their parents we all entered the library so the staff could tell us what we were going to do. We did 2 rotations , food technology and 3D technology.
Kiyosh - I used light blue for my cupcake fondant and used a cross mold to decorate my vanilla cupcake. The 3D printing was a little difficult to do but still fun. We first had to get a cylinder and flatten it and change its colour on the computer. Then we had to write our initials so I put MKA, it was magnificent.
Mae- After our rotations we went back to the library where we received a goodie bag. Inside were jellybeans , a pair of socks, a book mark, cupcake recipe and some other stuff.
Isabella- The 3D printing was fun but a little challenging for us. I really liked decorating the cupcakes.
Emily K- The 3D we got to make stamps or a disc with our name in it. We were allowed to take them home to use for our own cupcaking decorating.
Tiana- We did 3D printing, designing our own stamp. We decided on our own ones and had to put our initials on it.
