The Queenship of Our Lady

Last week we celebrated the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary when Mary was assumed into heaven body and soul.

This week, the Church celebrates the Feast of the Queenship of Our Lady on August 22nd which is another way of honoring Mary as the mother of Jesus; it is also a reminder that all of us are “kings and queens” in the Kingdom of God.

Although the feast day honors Mary, it is also a reminder of our own baptismal call to fully participate in the Reign of God. Mary’s “coronation” as “queen of heaven” points to the destiny that God wants for each of us: full participation in the glory of heaven.

ARE YOU INTERESTED IN LEARNING MORE ABOUT THE CATHOLIC FAITH?

At the Parish of St Augustine’s, Corpus Christi and Annunciation we welcome people who are searching for spiritual meaning in their lives or for a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church. The RCIA is a process of discernment and learning for those who are not baptised and wanting to find out more about Catholic faith and for those already baptised in another Christian tradition who now desire to further their faith journey with the Catholic Church.

A new group will begin early September. If you would like further information about joining us, please contact Fr Werner or the Parish Office.@ yarraville@cam.org.au
