BRING A BUCKET

Walking for Water - Bring a bucket!!!

This term, the Mini Vinnies and Social Justice Captains have been raising awareness about water scarcity and encouraging donations for Project Compassion. Many communities around the world do not have access to clean water, and children are often forced to walk long distances to fetch water, preventing them from attending school.

How We Can Help

By contributing to the Project Compassion boxes, we can help build water tanks and wells, providing communities with access to clean and safe drinking water. This means children will no longer have to walk long distances each day to fetch water and can instead focus on their learning.

Walking for Water Event - Thursday 2nd April, Last Day of Term 1

To raise awareness and stand in solidarity with those who experience water scarcity, we will be holding a ‘Walking for Water’ event. We ask that all students bring a bucket from home to participate.

  • Preps: Students will fill their buckets and walk laps around the tennis and soccer court. Students may choose to take turns carrying a bucket with their friends.
  • Year 1 and 2: the new running track and basketball court in the main playground. Students may choose to take turns carrying a bucket with their  friends.
  • Years 3 to 6: Students will walk to Peterson Reserve and do a lap or two around the oval.

Coin Line Challenge

On the same day, we will empty all Project Compassion boxes, and each class will create a coin line with their donations. The class with the longest coin line will win a prize, free icy poles! However, this initiative is about more than just the prize -it’s about supporting those who do not have access to clean water.

Living Out Our Catholic Social Teaching

This initiative aligns with the Catholic Social Teaching principles of Solidarity. Solidarity emphasises standing together as one human family, recognising that we are all interconnected. By participating in Walking for Water, students experience firsthand the challenges faced by children who must walk long distances for water. It encourages students to support those in need and work toward a more just and compassionate world.

Thank you for your support in helping our students grow in faith, compassion, and social responsibility. We look forward to a meaningful and impactful Walking for Water event!

Thank you for your support,

Social Justice Captains & Mini Vinnies
