Mathmatics

In Maths, students will be engaging in learning opportunities that build their understanding of fractions, decimals, percentages, probability, measurement, space and statistics. They will explore finding fractions, decimals and percentages of quantities, including calculating percentage discounts, and use estimation and efficient strategies to solve problems. Students will also describe and compare probabilities using fractions, decimals and percentages and conduct chance experiments and simulations.
Students will develop their understanding of time by calculating elapsed time and interpreting timetables and itineraries. They will also explore 3D objects and compare their cross-sections. In Statistics, students will plan and conduct investigations, collect and analyse data, and communicate their findings.
Students will engage in tasks that connect mathematics to real-world contexts, including financial problems, chance experiments, timetables, data investigations and practical problem-solving situations. They will continue to develop their mathematical reasoning, problem-solving skills and confidence when explaining, justifying and communicating their thinking.
As part of their Home Learning, students will continue to use Maths Online to consolidate mathematical concepts taught in class and develop fluency in number skills. Students will continue to be given the set task at the beginning of each week to be completed by the Friday of that same week.
