Dear Parents and Friends,

This week marks the end of Term 3 and I would like to acknowledge the varied achievements and events our students have had the opportunity to be involved in throughout the term. 

These included Tournament of the Minds, STEM Mad, the Diocesan Octathlon and our own SJB Spelling Bee. Recently, Years 5 & 6 participated in the Diocesan Christmas Story Art Competition and Public Speaking Competition and from a sporting perspective many students had the opportunity to participate in the Diocesan Soccer and Basketball Gala Days and Athletic Carnivals. Year 5 attended their overnight Camp to Canberra and Year 3 visited the Science Centre. Year 4 students sat the Diocesan Religious Literacy Assessment, many Year 6 students made their Sacrament of Confirmation and our School Captains represented us proudly at the Catholic Mission Launch and also observed the relics of Saint Carlos Acutis. We have also celebrated Book Week, Father’s Day and enjoyed a Family Movie Night.

Term 3 has provided so many opportunities for our students and I am grateful to our staff for supporting these. 

I will be on Long Service Leave on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week. I sincerely thank all parents and families for their constant support of the staff and wish our students a safe and enjoyable break.

P&F Family Movie Night

A sincere thank you to our P&F and volunteers who supported our Family Movie Night on Friday 4 September. This was well supported and the students present had a fantastic night. A special mention to our sponsors for their generous donations. The money raised will go towards replacing our grass area play equipment to be installed over the Christmas break.

Our Term 4 P&F meeting will be held on Wednesday 28 October, in the school hall at 7pm.

Staffing Term 4

We wish Mrs Rogers all the very best as she begins maternity leave at the end of this term. Mrs Fursey will teach 6J for the remainder of the year with Mrs Grace Osmond accepting the role of Diverse Learning Teacher for two days/week in Year 5.

2026 Annual Improvement Plan 

Goal: Students will be challenged to maximise their learning growth in Writing and clearly articulate their learning goals, know their next steps, and monitor their progress.

PROGRESS UPDATE:

Observation and Feedback Cycles will be completed this week resulting in all teachers having had their practice observed with subsequent feedback, throughout the team. Teachers have found these cycles extremely beneficial. 

Recent Staff Professional Learning

Research tells us that the quality of the teacher is the greatest in-school influence on student achievement. Therefore high quality professional learning for teachers must be a priority to ensure improved teacher practice that leads to improved student learning growth.

Whole School End of Term Assembly (K-6)

Our final assembly for Term 3 will be our whole school End of Term Assembly. Please note, this assembly is taking place on Thursday 24 September 2026, beginning at 2pm.

Principal Awards

Our Principal's awards are presented to students.

The following students from K-6 will will receive their Principal Awards at our whole school assembly, Thursday 24 September (Week 10).

How does my child receive a Principal's Award?

When students have received five awards from any combination of the following categories: Blue Merit, End of Term, Spelling Bee (1st , 2nd 3rd), Stage 3 Public Speaking (1st , 2nd 3rd), Stage 3 Diocesan Christmas Art Story (top three in Yr 5 & Yr 6) and St Francis of Assisi, they submit them to the school office to be recorded and become eligible to receive a Principal’s Award at the school assembly. Upon receiving their fourth Principal’s Award, students are presented with a Principal’s Medallion at a school assembly.

End of Term Awards

The following student will be presented their End of Term 3 Achievement Awards on Thursday 24 September 2026 (Term 3 Week 10). Parents of students receiving End of Term Awards are welcome to join the assembly.
