Principal Report

Thank you
As this is our final newsletter for Term 2, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all families for your wonderful support throughout what has been a very exciting and busy term at St Mary’s.
There has been so much to celebrate, including the Sacraments of Confirmation and Reconciliation, the beginning of our production preparations, and some amazing sporting success across a range of events. It has been fantastic to see our students involved in so many opportunities and representing our school with pride.
I would also like to acknowledge and thank the amazing staff of St Mary’s. We are very fortunate to have such an incredible group of educators who go above and beyond every day for our students and families. Our education system continues to place increasing pressure on school staff, and our team manages this with professionalism, care and commitment. We are very blessed to have them.
I wish all families a safe, happy and restful Term 2 holiday break, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back for another exciting term.
NAPLAN Data
We are incredibly proud of the initial results from this year’s NAPLAN assessments, which reflect the hard work, dedication and growth of our students in Year 3 and Year 5.
There is much to celebrate across both year levels, with particularly strong results in Writing, Reading and Numeracy. These results are a credit to our students, staff and families, and they reflect the strong learning culture we continue to build at St Mary’s.
Families are reminded that these are initial school-wide results. Individual student NAPLAN reports will be shared with families during Term 3.
For more detailed information about our NAPLAN results, please head over to the Teaching & Learning page of this newsletter.
Sporting Success
We are very proud to celebrate some fantastic sporting success from the recent Lightning Premiership events.
Last week, our netball teams achieved outstanding results, taking home two championships. Our football team also performed incredibly well, finishing in an impressive top four after a very strong day of competition.
Across the Lightning Premiership events this year, St Mary’s won three out of a possible six trophies. This is an incredible achievement and further cements St Mary’s as one of the leading sporting schools in the Dendy District.
A huge congratulations to all students who represented our school with such pride, effort and sportsmanship. Thank you also to our staff for the time, energy and support they put into preparing our students for these opportunities.
Thank you to Ms Sullivan for organising and for our amazing parent helpers; Briony, Monica, Marnie, Beau & Scott.
Semester 1 Reports
A reminder that Semester 1 reports will be sent home to families on Wednesday 24th June.
These reports provide an important snapshot of each child’s learning progress, achievements and areas for continued growth across the first semester. We encourage families to take the time to read through the reports with their child and celebrate the effort, learning and progress that has taken place so far this year.
Thank you to our teachers for the significant time and care they have put into preparing these reports for families.
