SPECIAL LUNCH DAY
Our Parents and Friends have organised another Fundraiser Special Treat Day. The Cheer Cheese Toastie Truck will be onsite at St John’s on Friday 29th May. Students can pre order toasted cheese sandwiches for $4:00 per Toastie. Gluten free bread, plant based cheese and non-dairy spread options will be available. Orders open later this week once children receive a Pre Order Envelope. Parents are asked to complete the front of the envelope and seal the payment inside. Any parents available to help on the day, please contact the office or a member of the Parents and Friends Committee.
MOTHER’S DAY STALL
Last week on Friday 8th May the students visited our Mother’s Day stall to make their purchases. Thank you to our Parents & Friends Committee for sourcing and preparing all of this year’s gifts. Thank you also to our Year 6 Leaders who helped the mums run the stall on the day. As you can see from the photo, the students were very excited with their purchases.
ST JOHN’S SCHOOL COOKBOOK
St John the Apostle Catholic school is a multicultural community which we celebrate each November, as part of our Cultural Week activities. This year as part of Cultural Week, the school’s Parents and Friends Association aims to release a School Cookbook which celebrates the diversity of our community.
We are inviting interested families to submit their special cultural or family recipes to be added to this collection.
For full notes and tips on submitting your recipe, please refer to the accompanying “Handy Tips” sheet. Please note that while we truly appreciate every recipe submission, not all entries may be included in the final book. Selection will be based on a range of factors such as suitability, originality and overall fit with the collection. If we receive multiple versions of a popular dish, we may contact you via email to request an alternative.

Nationality: Tell us where the recipe comes from (a country or region)
About this recipe: Our cookbook is not just about recipes, but also about sharing within communities, and the stories that go with our family foods, so please tell us about your recipe. Is your recipe based on another food author or published cookbook, or is this a special family recipe? Do you have a particular occasion when you share this meal? Is there anything else about this recipe that you would like us to know?
Ingredients: Please use standard metric measurements for ingredients (cup, teaspoon, tablespoon, millilitres, grams etc)
Method: Temperatures to be given in Celsius (not Fahrenheit) & Please used numbered steps
Tips and Suggestions: Is this dish suitable for freezing? Should it be stored in the fridge after cooking? Does it go particularly well with a specific side dish? Are there things you can add to change it up a bit for a different flavour?
Upload images: Please include a picture to go along with your recipe. This can be a photo of the finished dish, or a photo of part of the preparation. It can be a picture of just the finished dish, or the dish as part of a larger table setting. Alternatively it could be a hand drawing of any of these things. Something to give readers an idea of what to expect from this recipe. Photos must be your own. Uploading a photo from an existing book or website is a copyright issue.
