Learning and Teaching

Year 3

Many Year 3 students, participating in their first 3km cross country was both an exciting and challenging experience. Despite initial nerves, the learners approached the event with enthusiasm and determination, eager to test their abilities. Throughout the course, they demonstrated remarkable resilience, pushing through moments of fatigue and encouraging one another to keep going. It was especially inspiring to see classmates cheering each other on, celebrating small milestones, and showing genuine teamwork. By the end of the race, every learner had not participated, but also gained a strong sense of accomplishment and confidence in their own perseverance.

Year 6

Our Year 6 students have been deeply engaged in their Inquiry unit exploring health, wellbeing and identity. Throughout the term, students have been investigating important questions such as What keeps me healthy?, What influences my health and wellbeing?, and What shapes who I am?

They have explored how different factors, including relationships, environment, and the information we consume, can influence both our physical and emotional health. Students have also been learning about available health services and developing strategies to support their own wellbeing and navigate life’s changes with confidence.

A key focus of this learning has been the power of positive self talk. Students reflected on their personal strengths and attributes, considering how these contribute to their identity. They then brought this learning to life through creative “I Am” posters, where they crafted powerful, positive statements about themselves. This activity encouraged students to recognise their individuality, build self awareness, and celebrate what makes them who they are.

Some of their “I Am” posters are shared below.
