This fortnight's Spotlight is on.... Year 1 & 2
In Year 1, we have been a busy bunch during the first few weeks of Term 2! We are working hard in Mathematics, building our confidence as we unpack and solve problems together. In History, we are learning about the past and exploring how life has changed over time. In Religion, we have been thoughtfully learning about God’s love and how we can show kindness and care to others in our daily actions. Last week, we were also busy practising and preparing for our Mother’s Day liturgy, and we are so proud of how beautifully the students performed on the day. They showed confidence, reverence, and enthusiasm, making it a very special celebration. We are also really enjoying our new English focus text, Erik Carle’s Book of Amazing Animals. Through this text, we are exploring how the author uses language, illustrations, and structure to create rich and descriptive writing about animals. It has been wonderful to see students engaging enthusiastically and sharing their ideas!

Year 2 have been exploring data in a very hands‑on way this week, using tally marks to find out more about our favourite things. The children worked together to create simple surveys, asked thoughtful questions and recorded their results using clear tally marks. It was lovely to see how confidently they shared their findings and how naturally they collaborated as they compared totals and discussed what the data showed. This work is helping them build strong foundations in collecting data, representing information and interpreting results.
