Innisfail State College Visit
On Wednesday, we welcomed Deputy Principals, Donna Curzon and Connie Medley as part of a school visit exploring our work around Engagement. The visit, recommended by research and author Amy Berry, recognises the deliberate and sustained work of our staff in strengthening student engagement in the classroom.
Lesson observations highlighted how teachers provide timely, in-the-moment feedback that supports students to reflect, adjust, and take greater ownership of their learning within the lesson itself.
A key feature was a student panel, where students from Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 spoke directly to their experiences of engagement at Balmoral providing authentic insight into how classroom practices impact their motivation, agency, and learning.
Feedback from these educators was incredibly heartening. They were tremendously excited to see how the research was being enacted with success.
Another Balmoral moment of pride.

Congratulations to our award recipients and to all our Netball Academy students for the effort and team spirit you brought to the court this season. Thank you to our families for cheering them on throughout the year and joining us to celebrate.
A big thank you to our Netball Academy team, Mrs Marston, Miss Russell and Miss Kranz, for the time and care you put into supporting our players.
Thank you to Carina Leagues Club for hosting us, and to our special guest Alice Taylor from CLC Tigers Netball for taking the time to speak with our students and families.
Football Academy Awards Night
Our Football Academy Awards Night brought the Balmoral community together to celebrate a year of hard work, teamwork and growth on and off the pitch.
Congratulations to all our award recipients, our student athletes and the coaches and staff who’ve backed them all season, and a big thank you to special guest Matt Acton, former Brisbane Roar and current Goalkeeper of Vanuatu United.
A special thanks to Baxter for getting behind the lens and capturing the night!
Term 4 Vox and Voltage concert
In week 4, our Rock Band and Choir students performed for peers and parents at our Term 4 Vox and Voltage concert. The audience were treated to an eclectic song list ranging from Ed Sheeran, Vance Joy and Blondie to Paramore and System of a Down. All students showed great levels of dedication in preparing for this concert and wonderful stage presence and performance skills on the night. Thank you to all in our school community who came to participate and support, and congratulations to all who performed.
Lift-off at Balmoral! 🚀
Our students turned the oval into a launch pad, putting their water-powered rockets to the test and seeing how compressed air and water can send a bottle flying.
Well done to everyone who got stuck in and gave their rocket a go!
Football Academy Gala Day
Our Football Academy was in action at Aspley State High School yesterday!
A big shout-out to Bella for getting behind the lens and sending through some cracking shots from the sidelines. Thanks for bringing the rest of us along for the day, Bella! 📸
