Asthma in Winter

As we head into the colder weather, we are seeing an increase in students requesting their puffers. Asthma is often more challenging to manage during winter due to the cold, dry air in the classrooms, increased exposure to triggers like dust mites and mould, and the higher risk of respiratory infections. Cold, dry air can irritate the airways, making it harder to breathe and potentially triggering asthma symptoms like wheezing, coughing, and shortness of breath.

When exercising in winter there are some adjustments that can be made to help reduce Asthma symptoms. Try to avoid going outside first thing in the morning or in the evening when the air is coldest. When you do exercise, make sure you take time to warm up and cool down and follow any treatment advice your doctor has given you about treating exercise-induced asthma.

Working Bee Legends!

A big shoutout to the awesome families who came along to the Working Bee on Sunday 4th May:

Johnson Family (Parker), Visser Family, Fifett Family, Johnson Family (Cohen), Goodman Family, Summerfield Family, Corbett Family, Giles Family and Taylor Family.

With everyone’s help, we made fantastic progress around the school grounds. A group decision was made to remove a very tired rose from one of the garden beds, and we’re excited to replace it with some beautiful azaleas which are ready to be planted. We’ll get onto this shortly!

Thanks again to everyone who came along and pitched in. It makes such a difference!

ES Happenings

A number of our staff have chosen to spread positivity and acknowledge that sometimes it’s important to hear we matter and that we are enough.

"Dear person behind you, the world is a better place with you in it.

Love, the person in front of you."

"You are enough" 😊
