Allow me to introduce you to the marvellously organised Second-hand Uniform Shop Team, serving as a sub-committee of Friends of Donvale. These passionate DCC parents do an incredible job of managing the buying and selling of our second-hand uniform pieces, and creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for you while you shop!

If you haven't yet visited our newly opened shop space for Second-hand Uniforms, pop into our FOD Lounge (C Building) the next time they are open.  It's a truly beautiful set up!

Meet our Second-hand Uniform Shop Team

Team: Second-hand Uniform Shop Sub-Committee

How would you describe the role of the Second-hand Uniform Shop Team?

• Assist with set up, stock maintenance and shop presentation tasks
• Provide customer service when shop is open, and help/train other wonderful volunteers
• Process incoming stock from donation bins or families wanting to sell through the shop
• Assist with troubleshooting and continued improvements for shop operations
• All FOD members also help out with any FOD led community events when they are available. We enjoy being part of any parents meet and greet, Disco, Welcome Fest or any of the special events FOD puts on throughout the year.

What does the day-to-day involvement for the team include? We are rostered to serve at the monthly Second-hand Uniform Shop on days we are open, making sure the shop space is clear and tidy before-hand, sometimes coming in to process a few bags of donations to ensure we have as much stock on the floor as possible for our parent shoppers! Then we help our wonderful volunteers be ready to serve, process and make sales.

Tell us about the team's time commitment: Our uniform shop is a monthly commitment. We attend our collective FOD meeting one evening a month, and a morning or afternoon of sales when open. Moving to our new location earlier this year did mean many additional hours moving stock and getting the new space set up. And well worth it! (Come and see our beautiful new space).

Depending on the season the commitment can be more hands-on (think Prep Orientation or change of seasons) but apart from dates the shop is open, there is flexibility in times to serve.

What does the team love most about this role?  Serving with 2HU Shop is a great way to give back to the school community and provides excellent opportunity to meet new faces. We love volunteering alongside other parents in the DCC community, getting to know them, as well as anyone who walks through the shop doors. It's also fun to play shops and support families in finding uniform pieces at great prices.

We also all love to be a part of the wider FOD team, helping with the vast variety of events FOD puts on throughout the school year, and seeing the fun and joy these events bring to the DCC students, staff and families.

Share team goals for the remainder of 2025: To continue learning together about all that needs to happen in the background to keep the uniform shop thriving and assisting families in giving these uniform pieces a second life! We all desire to meet and connect with as many families as we can, so that everyone can truly experience the wonderful community we have here at DCC. And of course we also look forward to welcoming new FOD team members!
