Hold onto your flux capacitors and buckle up for a wild ride through history! A Step Back in Time is a time-travelling theatrical comedy that follows a wildly mismatched group of students forced to work together on a school science project – building a replica time machine. Led by a less-than-organised teacher and driven by academic rivalry, wealth, sarcasm, rhyme, and a whole lot of sass, the group unexpectedly activates the machine and is hurled into the past!

From prehistoric grunts and Egyptian grandeur to medieval myths, wartime heroes, disco queens, and 90s pop icons, the students stumble through the centuries, encountering legends like Cleopatra, King Arthur, Don Bradman, Albert Einstein, Kylie Minogue, Cathy Freeman, and even The Beatles before they were famous! Each time period brings chaotic laughs, clashing personalities, unexpected friendships – and more than a few life lessons.

At the heart of it all is quiet, overlooked Shelly, who just might hold the key to getting everyone home. But will anyone slow down enough to listen?

Packed with humour, history, and hit songs from every era, A Step Back in Time is a hilarious and heartwarming reminder that teamwork, curiosity, and a little courage can truly stand the test of time.

Perfect for audiences young and old – this is one time-travelling adventure you won’t want to miss!

Snakes

Snake weather is happening in Melbourne because the warmer months from September to April are when snakes are most active due to increased temperatures. While the current date is late August, which is early spring, you should be prepared for snake activity to increase as temperatures rise, especially during periods of warm, unsettled spring weather.

When to expect snake activity

  • Snake Season:

Typically runs from spring (September) through summer and into early autumn (April).

  • Warm Spells:

Even during the cooler months, snakes can become active during warm spells.

  • Breeding and Feeding:

Snakes are out and about breeding and searching for food during this period, increasing the chances of encounters.

What to do if you encounter a snake

  1. Move away: Get away from the snake to a safe distance.
  2. Call for help: Call emergency services immediately if you or someone is bitten.
  3. Immobilize: Keep the bitten area as still as possible.
  4. Apply a bandage: If trained, apply a pressure bandage from below the bite and upwards, covering the site.

Tips for staying safe

  • Be cautious: Be aware of your surroundings, especially in areas with overgrown vegetation, near water sources, or in newly developed areas where habitats have been disturbed.
  • Clear your property: Keep your garden tidy to reduce hiding spots.
  • Stay vigilant: Pay attention when walking pets or children outdoors.
