Book Week Parade
Friday morning, we held our annual Book Week Parade. I was blown away by the number of students who dressed up and made an enormous effort to come as their favourite book character. It was also really lovely to see the huge number of families who turned up to support this fantastic event. A big well done and thank you to our Junior School Council who organised and ran the parade.
Parent Opinion Survey
Each year, Victorian government schools take part in the Parent Opinion Survey, which is coordinated by the Department of Education. This survey gives parents and carers the chance to share their views on their child’s school. The information helps schools celebrate strengths, identify areas for improvement, and plan for the future. A random sample of families are invited to complete the survey, which is conducted online and is anonymous. If you receive an invitation, we strongly encourage you to take part—your opinion is important in shaping the direction of our school.
Emergency Contact Numbers
From time to time, we may need to contact parents or carers for various reasons, such as when a child is unwell, to share important information, or to arrange a meeting. Please ensure that any changes to your contact details, or those of your emergency contacts, are communicated to the office immediately.
Prep Healesville Sanctuary Excursion
On Tuesday 26th August, our Prep students enjoyed a wonderful excursion to Healesville Sanctuary as part of their Term 3 learning focus on Australian animals. The visit provided a fantastic opportunity for our youngest learners to see many of Australia’s unique animals up close, observe their behaviours, and gain a deeper understanding of their natural habitats.
As part of the day, students attended a special educational session run by the sanctuary staff, which deepened their knowledge of animal features, needs and environments. A highlight for many was watching the spectacular Birds of Prey show, where they were amazed by the power and grace of Australia’s raptors.
Students travelled by bus, leaving school at 9:30am and returning at 2:30pm after a full day of exploration and discovery. They walked through the outdoor exhibits, asked thoughtful questions, and showed great excitement as they learned about some of Australia’s most iconic creatures.
It was wonderful to see our students engaging so enthusiastically in their learning beyond the classroom. Thank you to our staff who supported the day and helped make this excursion such a success.
