Work Experience Spotlight - Jamie Penrose
Year 11 student Jamie Penrose recently completed four days of work experience at Industrial Conveying Australia in Bendigo.
Jamie is keen to explore engineering and manufacturing as possible future employment pathways. During his placement, he assisted with moving steel, shadowed qualified welders, and learnt how raw metals are prepared and cut to size. He also helped keep work areas tidy, sorted tools, moved materials, and observed the final pre-assembly process.
Jamie thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to gain hands-on insight into the engineering and manufacturing industry and to see the many tasks involved in a busy workshop.
Wedderburn College would sincerely like to thank Industrial Conveying Australia for hosting Jamie and for the time, guidance, and support provided by their staff. Opportunities such as this help students develop valuable skills and knowledge for their future career pathways.
Year 10 Bendigo Work Experience
Wedderburn College Year 10 students completed a week of work experience in Bendigo. The placement enabled students to practise personal accountability outside the classroom, grow more independent and comfortable in adult environments, and gain a real-world look at specific jobs to inform future study and career choices. Students worked alongside adults and peers to complete shared tasks, and practised speaking clearly with colleagues and customers while listening carefully to instructions. We extend our sincere thanks to the Bendigo businesses that hosted our students—your support is invaluable in creating meaningful pathways for our young people.
Unfortunately we do not have a photo of Year 10 students - Emma Porterfield, Caitlyn Treuel and April Reid, who also competed their work experience in Bendigo.
