Principal's Update

Dear Parents and Carers,

This Sunday 1st November, we celebrate All Saints Day. On this day we remember all those who made significant contributions to the Church and society in God’s name.

Lord,

You have given the saints in Heaven eternal happiness and they now live in the fullness of Your glory. Thank You for the gift of their holy lives. During this time, we also remember family members and loved ones in our local parish and community who have passed and left behind wonderful, long lasting gifts and memories.

Amen.

Prep orientation sessions for 2027

Prep orientation sessions for our 2027 students will be held after school hours on Monday 16th November, Tuesday 17th November and Wednesday 18th November. The children will be back on the mornings of Wednesday 25th November and Tuesday 8th December.

Pupil Free Days

This term’s pupil free days will be this coming Monday 2nd of November and Wednesday 4th November (Tuesday Melbourne Cup holiday). On these days, teachers and staff will be working on various areas of the curriculum and preparing for end of year reports and Learning Conversations. This term we have 2 pupil free days as we didn’t have one last term. The 2 days at the beginning of this term were collaboration days, which are granted by DOBCEL over and above the 6 pupil free days per year.

Welcome to our 2027 Prep parents

This week our 2027 Prep parents have been added to the mailing list and will be reading our Marian News for the first time. We have done this so new families can keep up to date with what is happening in this busy 4th term. On behalf of the St. Mary’s family we welcome you and look forward to having you join our school community in 2027.

Mission Day Fete

Last Friday we held our annual Mission Day fete. It was a wonderful opportunity for the children to display their initiative in setting up stalls and activities to raise money for those who are less fortunate. All the money has been counted and the children raised $2300 which will be forwarded to Catholic Missions. Well done to all the children, a great lesson in social justice.

Congratulations to Bec and Matt A

I wish to inform the school community that Bec Gallagher and Matt Absalom have accepted positions at new schools for 2027. Matt has been with us since 2022 and has made wonderful contributions to our school as a classroom teacher and sport coordinator. Bec joined us this year as a graduate teacher and has had a great first year of teaching in Grade 4. Both Matt and Bec will be greatly missed but we wish them all the very best in their new endeavours. Replacements for Bec and Matt and other positions will be announced in the coming weeks.

Enjoy the rest of your week
