Rowing
Riding on the (very sparkly) coattails of the hugely successful musical 'Chicago: Teen Edition', the intermission food stall raised an impressive $1400, which will go towards new equipment for The Hamilton and Alexandra College Rowing program.
Many thanks to our rowers and rowing parents for providing the delicious bites on offer and running the stall, and to all theatre-goers who supported us.

Netball
Representative Netball Competition - Wednesday 19 August
Good luck to our Junior, Intermediate and Senior Representative Netball Teams as they compete against other regional schools on Wednesday 19 August at Pedrina Park.
Games will run from 10:00am until approximately 3:00pm, and we warmly welcome parents, family and friends to come along and support our players throughout the day.
A few reminders for students:
Bring plenty of snacks, lunch and water for the day.
Make sure you have all necessary things for the day – dry change of clothes, braces, your own tape for ankles etc. FULL SPORTS UNIFORM is required for the day.
Senior students must check in with their classroom teachers before the day - making sure that they know what work they must catch up on.
All students should bring the books and equipment needed for Period 6 classes.
Our players have been consistently training throughout Terms Two and Three. We wish all our teams the very best and look forward to seeing them represent our school with pride, teamwork and sportsmanship.

It was another big week of basketball, with plenty of determination, teamwork and impressive individual performances on display as the season heads towards finals.
U12B boys – Boobook Owls
It was a tight game against the Minders Jazz team, with College securing an impressive 3-point victory. The win was a fantastic result and further demonstrated that the boys are ready to make their mark when finals arrive. Players of the Day were Shriaan Golwla, who contributed 8 points and George Malseed with 4 points. Both players were instrumental under the ring, making valuable contributions to the team's performance.
U12B Boys – Barking Owls
Barking Owls took on Barber Boys White, experiencing a challenging 38-point loss. The boys should be extremely proud of the effort and determination they displayed throughout the game. Despite their shots not falling and the opposition stepping up their intensity, the boys continued to match their opponents' efforts and worked hard until the final buzzer. They showed great resilience, held their heads high and demonstrated that they will come back stronger from this experience. Players of the Day were Herbie Dyer and Jack Allen.
U12B Girls – Sooty Owls
The U12B Sooty Owls continued their impressive form this week, securing another convincing 40-point victory against the Tigers. The girls encourage and support one another in both offence and defence, maintained their energy and enthusiasm right through to the final buzzer. Hazel Johns, with 14 points, and Harriet Small, with 12 points, were standout performers. Every player who took to the court contributing points to the scoreboard.
U14B Girls – Snowy Owls
The Snowy Owls enjoyed a strong start to the round with a 9-point victory over Minders Blue. Every player made valuable contributions, demonstrating teamwork, resilience and a determination to secure a place in the finals series. A standout performance came from Pippa Quinn, who led the scoring with 9 points while also making a significant impact on the boards with her rebounding.
U14B Girls – Sooty Owls
The Sooty Owls fought hard against Saint Mary's but were narrowly defeated by 7 points. Despite the result, the team displayed outstanding sportsmanship and unity, continually encouraging one another and demonstrating what it means to be supportive teammates. Chloe Cameron delivered an excellent performance, scoring 13 points.
U16B Boys – Barking Owls
The Barking Owls recorded an outstanding 47-point victory over GT Storm after establishing a commanding 39–7 lead at half-time. Every player contributed at both ends of the court. Oscar and Angus Smith each scored 21 points, helping secure the win and cement the team's place in the finals.
U16B Boys – Barn Owls
The Barn Owls put in a determined effort against Barber Boys Black but went down by 14 points. The team competed strongly until the final buzzer and should be proud of the commitment they showed throughout the match. Darcy Clarke led the scoring with 14 points, while the entire team worked tirelessly in both offence and defence. The boys will look to bounce back next week as they continue their push towards the finals.
U16A Girls – Majestic Owls
The Majestic Owls faced a strong Minders Blue side and, despite their best efforts, were defeated by 22 points. The team showed great determination and never stopped competing, demonstrating the resilience they will take into the finals race. Elsie Brown was outstanding once again, scoring 14 points with confident attacking play and smart movement around the three-point line before driving strongly to the basket.
U16B Girls – Snowy Owls
The Snowy Owls overcame a slow start against Tigers, settling into the game they communicated well, made smart decisions and worked together to limit their opponents' scoring opportunities. Olivia Baluch led the way offensively with 17 points, using her strong drives to the basket to great effect. Annika Fitzsimmons was exceptional in defence, recording several impressive blocks, while Imogen Johns also made a significant defensive contribution through her relentless effort and pressure.
Div 2 – Snowy Owls
This week, we went head-to-head with the top-ranked Tigers in an exciting and closely contested match. After taking the lead in the first half, the Tigers fought back and the game finished in a thrilling 33–33 draw.
The team was delighted to welcome back key player Saskia Gould from injury. Saskia made an outstanding impact, scoring an impressive 20 points and driving the teams strong performance. The girls should be incredibly proud of their efforts, proving they can compete with the competition's strongest teams. With finals fast approaching, the team is looking forward to next week's match and is determined to continue their strong form in pursuit of a well-deserved place in the finals.
Div 3 – Majestic Owls
This week, the girls took on Saint Mary's Black in a hard-fought match, ultimately falling by 10 points. After a closely contested first half, the team remained competitive, but the game unfortunately slipped away in the second half. The girls showed great determination and worked tirelessly to create scoring opportunities and maintain pressure throughout the game. Ava Ryan was a standout, leading the team with 8 points. Her strong ball movement and determined drives to the basket resulted in several impressive lay-ups.
Div 4 College Men’s – Boobook Owls
Our College Boys basketball team also faced the top-ranked Tigers this week in a hard-fought contest, narrowly going down by just 5-points. Despite the result, the boys demonstrated determination and resilience throughout the game, working tirelessly to create scoring opportunities against a strong opposition.
Player of the Match honours went to Sam O'Sullivan, who led the team with 9-points. Sam was instrumental in driving to the basket on fast breaks, securing important rebounds, and consistently displaying excellent teamwork and commitment on the court.
Although the result did not go their way, the boys can be proud of their performance.
Looking Ahead
Another fantastic week of basketball has wrapped up, with our College teams continuing to build momentum as finals approach. The commitment, teamwork and determination being shown across all teams is a wonderful reflection of the effort our players are putting into their season.
With finals on the horizon, we look forward to seeing our teams compete with confidence, support one another and give their very best right through to the end of the season.
Hockey
The College women went up against Dunkeld Blue in a tough game, losing 8-0. Despite missing a number of key players, the team worked hard and took on positions they hadn't played before. Grace Potter and Jessica Templeton had a great game, switching well from their usual forward positions back to defence. Hannah Young also had some amazing saves in the goals, which were truly commendable. We look forward to having our full team back this Friday to play against Coleraine.
The College Men played Rams on Sunday and drew 3-3. They had a strong performance for the most part of the game, with only a three-minute lapse before half-time to concede two costly goals. However, Cairo Cullinane had a super save in a short corner, early in the third quarter, which helped keep the men on level terms. Goal scorers for the game were Oscar Smith, Reuben Hays and Charlie Hawthorne (Captain). The men will go up against the Bulls at 4:30 this Sunday.
