Principal's News

Dear SMCM Community, Wominjeka!

It is hard to believe this week brings us to the end of Term 1. What a settled and engaged start we have enjoyed to the 2026 school year!

It has been an exciting first term filled with rich learning and community experiences including interschool sport, swimming lessons, NAPLAN, staff professional learning, our Prep Welcome Picnic, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, Harmony Day celebrations and more. Congratulations to our Foundation students who have successfully completed their very first term of primary school. What a wonderful milestone in their learning journey!

It was wonderful to celebrate this Term with our families at last night's Celebration of Learning.

As we look ahead, Term 2 is always action packed. I encourage families to regularly check the ‘Important Dates’ section of our Newsletter to stay up to date with all that is happening across our school.

Change of Date - Colour Run

In light of the current cost of living pressures being experienced by many in our community, we have made the decision to reschedule our Colour Run to allow families more time to plan and participate. We hope this will help alleviate some of the current financial pressures for families.

The Colour Run will now take place on Thursday 17th September.

Fundraising will remain open until September. If you are yet to create an account, go to: myprofilepage.com.au

We look forward to a fun and vibrant day together later in the year.

School Advisory Council

Last night our School Advisory Council met for our first meeting of the year. The following Principal's Report was presented  at the meeting and well as our Annual Action Plan.

Baby News!

Congratulations to Toan, Thien, Leah (Courage Homegroup) and Ivy (Bunjil Homegroup) on the safe arrival of your little sister Millie!

Congratulations to Rafael, our Learning & Teaching Leader, and his wife Lucy on the safe arrival of their daughter, Lola, a little sister for Massimo!

Holy Week & Easter

This week, we enter into the most sacred time in our Church calendar, Holy Week.

Our students have had the opportunity to walk in the footsteps of Jesus through our “Walk Through Holy Week” experience, engaging in prayer and reflection.

In the story of Holy Week, we see a powerful example of courage:

One man stands with honour and integrity as others humiliate and insult Him.

He chooses non-violence while others respond with harm.

With His final breath, He offers forgiveness instead of anger.

In 2026, as we live out our theme “With Courage We Grow,” we are reminded that true growth comes through acts of love, forgiveness and courage. May we continue to encourage our students to act with courage in their learning, in their relationships and in their faith.

I wish you and your family a joyous and blessed Easter, and a safe and restful school holiday break. I will be on leave for the first week of Term 2. Lisa and Jess will be available while I am on leave.
