Film Crew Club Update

At our last Film Crew Club meeting, students were excited to vote on the final design for the radio podcast. We had three strong concepts to choose from, each with its own merit. A special thank you to Andrea F. for her creativity and design work.

Students captured promotional images for the podcast using a Canon DSLR camera and, as a group, discussed the advantages and disadvantages of different filming equipment. 

Our equipment list is almost ready for ordering. Claymation characters were also brought to life, including an impressive dragon for a potential short animation. Meanwhile, the short film script continues to be refined through the drafting process. When it moves into production, we will be on the lookout for props, actors, and a suitable location — so start thinking about your favourite police crime drama for inspiration!

We also viewed scenes from The Karate Kid and identified key shot types in preparation for our own film shoots, helping to build a shared language around film terminology.

A return visit to the ‘studio’ sparked further discussion about layout — including the big question: will we be able to fit a couch in there?!

New podcast interview topics and filming projects are underway. We are currently collaborating with the Digital Ambassadors and aim to begin our first shoot in the very near future.
