Learning Highlights

Exploring Bugs and Insects

This term our Kindergarten class has been buzzing with excitement as we explored the fascinating world of bugs and insects!  Students observed and discussed the different types of insects we find in our gardens and playground—like butterflies, beetles, and ants. Through hands-on activities and interactive stories, children learned about how insects move, where they live, and why they are important for our environment.

Platypus and Australian Animals

Our inquiry into Australian animals continued as we discovered the platypus, one of our country’s most unique creatures.  As a class, we talked about what makes the platypus so special, including its duck-bill, webbed feet, and how it lives both in and out of water.  The students enjoyed listening to stories, drawing platypuses, and sharing what they know about other Australian animals and their habitats.

Mathematics:

In Mathematics, we have practised finding the 'friends of ten'—the pairs of numbers that add up to ten.  Through games, puzzles, and hands-on counting, we learned how to spot these pairs and use them to solve simple addition problems.

We also explored how smaller numbers can be hiding inside bigger numbers.  For example, when we look at the number 7, we can find 3 and 4 hiding inside!  These activities build our confidence in number sense and help us with addition and subtraction.

PE:

We have loved going to our gymnastics sessions each Thursday and have learned some great new skills.  Tomorrow will be our last session.

Next term, on Monday, 27th July, we will be celebrating 100 Days of Kindergarten!  This is a special milestone where we mark 100 days of learning, growing, and fun together.

A big thank you to all parents and carers for your support throughout this term.  Your encouragement, involvement and partnership have helped make Term 2 a positive and enjoyable experience for all our students.  We are very excited for Term 3!
