A big welcome back to Term 3 for all staff and students!

NAIDOC Week Celebrations:

Last week, classes celebrated NAIDOC week in various ways. The week culminated in Grade 3 Matt’s Prayer Gathering reminding us of all we can do for and learn from, our Indigenous peoples. Different year levels then learnt about the different seasons and completed activities learning about and being in solidarity with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. A great week to start off our term.

ECSI Course: Head, Heart and Hands:

Judy and I were fortunate enough to attend a rigorous, informative, collaborative and thought provoking course called ‘ECSI: Head, Heart and Hands’ this week. Throughout the 4 days, we were guided by Dr. Teresa Brown and Christopher Reed, who are both lecturers of Theology from ACU, through an understanding of key concepts of our faith including Revelation, Symbolism and Tradition, in a Post Vatican II world. We were then walked through the ECSI project which is considered the best model to both maintain and enhance a school’s Catholicity; the ideal being a school that Recontextualises faith using Dialogue through a Post Critical Belief lens. We were then given practical and pedagogical ideas, theological knowledge and resources that we can bring back to our school to continue on our journey of both maintaining and enriching our Catholic identity here at St. Marys in an ever changing, contemporary world.

Just a note that there’s been an amendment to Term 3 Prayer Gatherings. Maegan and Jodie’s class have been rescheduled to Term 4 due to Production week, so there’s no Prayer Gathering in Week 9. I’ve highlighted the change below.
