Catholic Identity

We began the year beautifully with our Beginning of Year Mass, reverently led by our wonderful Year 6 students. They demonstrated leadership, confidence and faith as they guided our community in prayer and celebration. It was a lovely way to gather together and set our intentions for the year ahead.
We then enjoyed our Shrove Tuesday celebrations, sharing pancakes as a school community. This was a joyful opportunity for students to learn about the significance of Shrove Tuesday and the preparation it represents as we enter the season of Lent. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who assisted with organising and distributing the pancakes — your support helped make the day both smooth and special for our students.
We would especially like to give a big shout-out to Tomasz Grabowski, James Grabowski’s dad in Year 3, who is the Manager at Mentone Woolworths. Tomasz very generously donated pikelets, fresh fruit and maple syrup for our Shrove Tuesday celebrations. His kindness and community spirit are greatly appreciated, and we are so thankful for his support of St Mary’s.
Our Year 4 students also led us beautifully in our Ash Wednesday Liturgy. They spoke and participated with reverence and maturity, helping our community reflect on the beginning of Lent as a time of prayer, reflection and renewal.
A sincere thank you to all staff and parents who helped prepare students, supported rehearsals and assisted in the distribution of ashes. Your collaboration and commitment to our Catholic Identity ensure
