Mathematics
Number & Algebra
Students will identify fractions of different shapes and move towards finding fractions of a collection. They will develop an understanding of halves, quarters, and eighths, and then apply their understanding to measurement contexts, such as time, mass and capacity. Students will also identify and create increasing and deceasing number patterns and use these to help them solve problems.
Measurement & Geometry
Students will learn about location by interpreting and creating maps of familiar places. They will learn to use features of maps, such as a key, and be able to follow and give directions to get from one location to another using directional language.
Statistics and Probability
Students will learn how to interpret and evaluate information provided in tables and graphs. They will collect their own data and display it in a variety of ways, including picture and column graphs. Students will compare data representations and evaluate the effectiveness of data collection.
