Principal's Views
These first two weeks of Term 3 are off to a great start. We have a really exciting term shaping up with equal focus on learning and wellbeing.
Our student leaders have embarked on two very exciting student leadership programs:
Stand Up Project
A group of Year 5 stand up leaders taught the teachers on Wednesday night all about bullying, what the research says and what they think should happen in the school .. they shared their vision for a whole school action plan to make improvements to student wellbeing and amazed the teachers with their teaching skills … Now they are going to teach the parents. On Thursday August 6th - all parents are invited to come and listen to our amazing leaders talk about how all students can learn to stand up against bullying.

DASH - Dynamic, Active, Safe Healthy
Our Year 6 leaders are also working on building their leadership skills and are participating in a hands on program designed to build confidence, leadership and connection. This week they had 5 community service workers come along and share their roles and had a bit of fun too. We love making links with our local community services.
We look forward to the Year 6 leaders sharing more information about the program and the project that they will implement as a lasting legacy of their time at EVPS.
Berry Street Education Model - Stamina and Engagement
The focus on wellbeing continues during our curriculum day next Friday 31st July (no school for students) where all school staff will participate in the 3rd professional learning module of the Berry Street Education Model which focuses on Stamina and Engagement. Staff will hone their skills to increase students' ability to sustain attention, persist with challenging tasks, and remain actively involved in learning. By intentionally building learning stamina through structured routines, movement, and brain breaks, we are supporting students to develop the confidence, resilience and focus they need to be successful learners.
For parents and carers, this means your children are learning in a school that is intentionally building their ability to stay focused, engage in learning for longer periods, and persevere when tasks become challenging. We look forward to providing you with another update in the next newsletter.
Update on Facilities
The refurbishment of the student toilets is now in its final stages. While the project is running slightly behind schedule, we expect the toilets to be completed and ready for use by the end of next week. We’d like to thank our students for the way they have adapted to using the changed toilet facilities and followed the new routines so responsibly. Their patience and cooperation have been greatly appreciated.
Work on our new sandpit will begin next week. As mentioned previously, the nature play area will be fenced off for a few weeks. If you know your child plays in this area, you can support us by reminding them of other places to play in the yard. We look forward to the completion of this new exciting area.
Attendance
Congratulations to the early attendance leaders for this term. We congratulate the following classes on their great start to the term with above 95% attendance in the first 2 weeks.
1st - 96.84% 1GV
2nd - 96.37% PSG
3rd - 95.66% 2MC
Remember 100% attendance awards reset at the start of each term – so everyone has the opportunity to receive an award for Term 3.
Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD)
Each year, schools participate in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD). The NCCD helps schools identify and understand the adjustments provided to support students with disability and additional learning needs to access and participate in education on the same basis as their peers.
As part of this process, our school reviews the supports and adjustments currently in place for students, ensuring our records accurately reflect the personalised support provided. The information collected is used to inform planning, improve support for students, and assist governments with understanding the level of adjustment required in Australian schools. Student Spotlight
At EVPS, we love celebrating the achievements of our students both in and out of school. If your child has recently participated in a sporting event, performed in the arts, achieved success in a community activity, or has an interesting extracurricular story to share, we would love to feature them in our Student Spotlight section.
