Feast of the Assumption and Awards Assembly

Last Friday, our school community came together for a special Feast of the Assumption Liturgy and Awards Assembly. Our students played an important role in leading the celebration through prayer, readings and singing, helping to create a reverent and meaningful occasion for everyone present.

The liturgy gave us the opportunity to reflect on Mary’s faith, trust and commitment to God, while also recognising the importance of these qualities in our own lives. It was wonderful to see our students confidently taking on leadership roles throughout the celebration and contributing so positively to the prayerful atmosphere.

Following the liturgy, we held our Awards Assembly, where we recognised and celebrated the achievements, effort and positive contributions of our students. Congratulations to all award recipients and to every student who helped make the celebration such a special part of our school week

This Week's Gosple  - Matthew 16:13–20

In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus asks his disciples, “Who do you say I am?” Peter responds with faith and confidence, recognising Jesus as the Messiah. Jesus then places his trust in Peter and gives him an important role in helping to build the Church.

This Gospel reminds us that faith is not simply about what we say or know. It is also reflected in the way we live, the decisions we make and how we respond to others. Peter was not perfect, but he was willing to step forward in faith and accept responsibility.

This is a valuable message for all of us, particularly our students. Every day they are given opportunities to show kindness, make positive choices, include others and take responsibility for their actions. These may seem like small things, but they help build a strong and caring community.

As we reflect on this Gospel, may we continue to encourage our students to have confidence in themselves, to recognise the gifts they have been given and to use those gifts in service of others.
