Volleyball Team Shows Great Spirit and Improvement at Tournament!

On Thursday, March 6, a group of Year 7, 8, 9, and 10 students represented MCC at the Sunraysia Division volleyball tournament, playing in the Year 9-10 category. Our team contained several players new to the game, and the team's focus was on playing their best and demonstrating excellent sportsmanship, regardless of the outcome.

In their first match against Merbein, the boys displayed fantastic spirit and delivered some impressive hits, despite a 17-44 loss. They followed this with a 12-50 loss against Irymple, where they worked hard to implement their team strategies and showed clear improvements from their previous game. The final match against Coomealla saw the team facing the pressure of a potential win, which unfortunately impacted their performance, resulting in a 12-27 loss. The boys learned a valuable lesson about managing pressure and maintaining composure under challenging circumstances.

Throughout the tournament, the team's dedication extended beyond the court. When rostered, the boys performed their duties as scorers, net referees, and linesmen to a high standard, contributing to the smooth running of the competition. We are incredibly proud of the team's commitment to good sportsmanship and their continuous effort to improve. Well done, boys!

The MCC girls acquitted themselves very well in their three games. In the first match against Merbein, they surprised themselves at how well they combined as a team, going down 38-21. They kept up the great work ethic against Irymple, losing 44-27. The girls had a strong chance against Coomealla, but didn’t quite get there, only losing by 5 points (37-32). All of the team contributed to umpiring and scoring. A special mention goes to Tilesa for taking on the responsibility of being match referee for two games.

The teams learnt new skills and had a lot of fun while representing MCC with pride.
