Dalet Geography Excursion

On Tuesday, March 18th, Dalet Geography class headed to the Etiwanda Wetlands to meet up with Nadia (Education Officer at MRCC) and Emma from the Mallee Catchment Management Authority. Nadia taught us about how the wetlands work and what they are for and Emma helped the students conduct water tests to find out how healthy the water in the wetlands is. We checked turbidity, pH, temperature, dissolved oxygen and salinity and saw how low the water levels were due to the lack of rain recently. We saw lots of ducks and other birds and Eli C even caught a tiny baby fish, so there were plenty of living things enjoying the water that was there. Thankfully the weather was a bit cooler, and everyone enjoyed the chance to get out of the classroom and do some learning 'in the field'. Thanks to Miss Jasper for organising, Mr. Faoa for driving the bus and Mrs. Vea for helping supervise.
