Catholic Identity

PRAYER
Today is the feast day of St Joseph Calasanz who was a Spanish Catholic priest. He was an educator and founder of the Pious Schools, which provided free education to poor children. He started a religious order commonly known as the Piarists, to teach at these schools. The Piarists began in Rome in the early 1600s and is the oldest religious order dedicated primarily to providing free education to poor children and youth.
St Joseph Calasanz is the patron saint of all Christian schools and by extension all students who attend a Catholic school. With this in mind families may like to spend a few minutes in prayer with God, thanking him for the opportunities we have been blessed with here at St John’s.
