Help Us Keep Our Composting Program Thriving
At Drysdale Primary School, our students are doing an amazing job reducing waste and caring for our environment. Over the past few years, we’ve built strong recycling habits in our classrooms — helping us save money while making a positive impact on the planet!
As part of our composting program, we collect food scraps from classrooms each week. While this is fantastic for our gardens, our bins can sometimes get a little messy… so we’d love your help!
How you can support us:
We are kindly asking families to donate a roll of compostable bin liners to support our classrooms.
♻️ Look for ‘My Eco Bags’ at your local supermarket
♻️Available at Woolworths or Coles
♻️ Each roll contains 25 compostable bags
♻️ We only use one bag per week — so a single roll goes a long way!
These liners can go straight into our compost bins, helping to keep classroom bins clean, hygienic and much less smelly for everyone
Every little bit helps. Next time you’re doing your grocery shop, why not pop a roll into your trolley? Your small contribution will make a big difference to our sustainability efforts.
Thank you for your continued support — together we are building a cleaner, greener school community.
Happy Sustainability!
Recycling your Bottles and Cans to Help our School Garden Grow!
Did you know your empty cans and bottles can help grow our school garden?
Through the Container Deposit Scheme (CDS), every eligible drink container you recycle can earn 10 cents — and those small amounts quickly add up to something amazing for our school community!
We’re inviting all families and friends to support Drysdale Primary School by choosing us on the CDS app under the Charities section. It’s simple:
👉 Collect your eligible cans and bottles at home👉 Visit your local CDS refund point👉 Select Drysdale Primary School in the app👉 Recycle and donate your refund
Every 10 cents goes directly towards buying new plants and growing our beautiful school garden
This is a fantastic way to:
- Reduce waste and help the environment
- Support sustainability in our school
- Get kids involved in real-world action
- Watch our garden continue to thrive
Together, we can turn everyday recycling into something meaningful for our students. So next time you finish a drink — don’t toss it, recycle it and help our garden grow!
Thank you for supporting our school and helping us create a greener future
We’re Proud to Be a ResourceSmart School!
At Drysdale Primary School, we are proud to be part of theResourceSmart Schools program — a Victorian initiative supporting schools to reduce waste, save energy and water, and take real action for a more sustainable future.
Being a ResourceSmart School means sustainability is part of our everyday learning and actions. Our students are not just learning about the environment — they are actively making a difference!
What we’re doing at our school:
- ♻️Reducing waste by separating paper, organics and recycling
- 🍎Promoting nude food to cut down on packaging
- 🌱Composting food scraps to support our gardens
- 🐝Caring for our environment, including celebrating events like World Bee Day
- 🌼Growing and maintaining our school gardens
Through these actions, our students are developing lifelong habits and a strong sense of responsibility for the world around them.
Why it matters
Programs like ResourceSmart Schools empower young people to become leaders of change. Every small action adds up — and together, we are creating a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable community.
We love seeing our students take pride in their efforts and bring these positive habits home. Thank you to our families for supporting these initiatives — whether it’s packing nude food, recycling at home, or talking about ways to reduce waste.
Together, we are making a difference!
