Hands-On Biology: The Heart-Lung Connection

Our Year 8 scientists traded workbooks for scalpels this week! To wrap up our unit on body systems, students dissected to explore the vital link between the heart and the lungs.

Key Highlights:

• The Pulmonary Circuit: Students traced the physical pathways (arteries and veins) that transport blood between the two organs.
• Lungs in Action: A crowd favorite was inflating the lungs, observing how the tissue expands, and seeing the incredible surface area used for gas exchange.
• Lab Excellence: We were impressed by the maturity shown in using scalpels and probes safely while maintaining a professional lab environment.
