Faith and Community

Student leadership has been a strong focus across Brigidine this term, with the School Captain, House Captain and Living Justice Living Peace selection processes well underway. Students have embraced the opportunity to step forward, deliver speeches, participate in interviews and share their ideas for our College. It has been wonderful to see students having the courage to put themselves forward and consider how they can serve, represent and make a positive difference within our community.
Our Kildare students have also been developing and writing liturgies, giving them the opportunity to consider how prayer, Scripture and reflection can speak meaningfully to the experiences of young people today. Students have been spending time at our Brigidine Chapel and participating in history walks, discovering more about the people, stories and traditions that have shaped St Joseph’s over the past 140 years. These experiences provide an important connection between our past and the Catholic community we continue to build today.
Community and connection were also at the heart of our Father’s Day celebration, where students and their fathers and father figures came together to enjoy activities, conversation and pizza around the fire pit. It was a relaxed and enjoyable evening and a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the important people who support and encourage our young people.
Our commitment to wellbeing has continued throughout the term. R U OK? Day reminded us of the importance of noticing others, starting conversations and taking the time to genuinely listen. This message is strengthened through our continued commitment to The Resilience Project, supporting students to develop gratitude, empathy and mindfulness and providing practical strategies that contribute to positive wellbeing.
Service and justice have also remained visible through student-led fundraising, including sausage sizzles that have brought our community together while supporting important causes.
Across all of these experiences, we continue to place Christ at the centre of who we are. Whether through leadership, prayer, service, wellbeing or simply noticing and caring for another person, we encourage our students to follow the example of Jesus and recognise that making a difference often begins with choosing to serve.
